WWE has announced that Adam Cole will defend the NXT Championship against Velveteen Dream on next Wednesday’s pre-taped episode.

Cole vs. Dream was slated to headline NXT TakeOver: Tampa before TakeOver was scrapped. WWE had tried to hold off on the title match as long as possible, likely so Dream could win the title in front of a crowd.
It’s always possible that Cole will find a way to a way to retain in storyline to keep the rivalry going, unless WWE has changed their mind on Dream’s push following last week’s social media allegations.
Next week’s show will also feature Johnny Gargano vs. Dominik Dijakovic, Io Shirai vs. Charlotte Flair for the NXT Women’s Championship, plus the official debut of Karrion Kross and Scarlett Bordeaux.
