The NWA may not be re-opened. Raven, while making an appearance on Devon Nicholson’s Hannibal TV, explained what he heard through the grapevine.
Hannibal asked Raven if he could see himself working for NWA owner/promoter Billy Corgan again considering he booked for him before.
“I didn’t book for Billy before, I was in the office,” explained Raven. “I was like his assistant I guess. Yeah, me and Billy get along really well.”
In regards to the National Wrestling Alliance, Raven was direct.
“I think Billy is shutting it down from what I hear.”
“The thing is Billy really does the booking, at least he did with Resistance Pro. He liked me there to have have my wrestling mind so I could say yay or nay to ideas to see if they make sense or don’t. But ultimately, he was the final say on everything, as he should have been.
“I don’t know. Through the grapevine, I heard that Billy’s not opening [the NWA] back up, he’s really disillusioned.”
While the NWA was starting to gain traction under Billy Corgan’s leadership, things started to go from bad to worse. Jim Cornette left the promotion after a controversial remark on commentary late last year and Dave Lagana resigned in June after he was accused of sexual assault.
Once Lagana resigned, the promotion announced they were halting all production pending a restructuring of executive management positions.
Pursuant to allegations made by pro wrestler Liz Savage on her Twitter account, 6/18/2020, NWA VP David Lagana has resigned his position, effective immediately. As well all production of NWA content is temporarily halted, pending a restructuring of executive management positions.
