I’ve seen a lot of headlines about Stephanie McMahon selling 43% of her Class A WWE stock. Is this significant?
Stephanie McMahon sold 43 percent of her Class A stock at $39.18 a share. Apparently she owns more Class B stock and one the differences is Class A stock carries more voting rights. But this isn’t significant and just means she sold the stock because she needed the money. She obviously sold at a low point so there must have been something she was looking to buy but she is free to do what she wants, she just had to report it to the SEC. Let us also not forget the tax implications for selling a stock at a smaller price. Vince McMahon sold a lot of stock several years ago when he founded the XFL. It really isn’t a wrestling news headline.
Has Retribution become nothing more than a mockery?
As we discussed yesterday, WWE has failed miserably with Retribution and yes, they have turned into a mockery. CM Punk took a shot at the faction by posting a photo of Slapjack with the caption, “When you’re bored in catering and there’s an abundance of paper plates.” T-Bar and Slapjack tried to spin this into a work but WWE has put them in a really difficult spot. The logic gap is bad, the costumes leave a lot to be desired but the names are a complete joke.
Based on the way The Undertaker is talking lately, it seems he really is finished. Do you believe we have seen the last of him in the ring?
If the right scenario presented itself, it is certainly possible The Undertaker works again but he probably is finished. Undertaker is one of the greatest WWE Superstars of all-time and while most would have preferred him to go out in front of a live audience, the Boneyard match against AJ Styles was very well done. Undertaker is 55-years-old and has absolutely nothing left to prove. I would rather see him retire following the Boneyard match at WrestleMania 36, which was one of the best and most innovative things WWE has done in several years. Why risk going out there again only to underwhelm? What else is left? The pressure of the streak ended years ago and I just do not see what else there is for The Undertaker.
Cody Rhodes returned to AEW TV tonight and it got me thinking: is he overrated?
Cody Rhodes has always been a favorite of mine. Even when he was doing gimmicks such as “Dashing” Cody Rhodes in WWE, he was able to produce entertaining segments. He even made the most out of a horrible gimmick as Stardust. He will always have a lot of haters and he certainly is not his father, but I’m a fan of his work. Another thing I really respect about Cody is how he has been utilized in AEW. Did he skyrocket himself right to the AEW World Championship picture? No, he helped build the TNT Championship and put Brodie Lee over in a big way. He gets it.
