Former WWE superstar Ashley Massaro appeared in a music video for a song about suicide prevention prior to taking her own life last year. Now, with the blessing of her family, the video has been released.
Brian Orlando, a morning show radio show at a Long Island radio station where Massaro hosted a weekly show, commented to The New York Post:
“When the Massaro family gave us their blessing, it was time,” said Orlando. “But it’s still bittersweet.”
Massaro won the WWE Diva Search in 2005 and was on the cover of Playboy in 2007. She left WWE in 2008.
In 2016, Massaro was part of a class-action lawsuit against WWE that accused WWE of concealing injuries that could lead to neurological damage. WWE issued a statement after her death that said she apologized for participating the lawsuit, which was dismissed in 2018.
Regarding the music video, it was filmed between December 2018 and January 2019 and is called “Choose Song.” It was written by Brian Orlando, who asked Massaro to be part of the video. She saw it 95% complete before her death.
