WWE posted a kayfabe update on Rey Mysterio’s eye following his Eye for an Eye Match at The Horror Show at Extreme Rules.
Like on the broadcast, it was explained [here on dot com] Mysterio was “rushed to a local medical facility to be treated for a potential glob luxation.” They note medical experts were optimistic if the “optic nerve is not severed and there is not too much strain on the blood vessels and nerves that connect the eye to the rest of the head, there’s a chance Mysterio can maintain his vision.”
Obviously, this is selling the stipulation at Extreme Rules. For those that missed it, Rollins drove Mysterio’s eye into the corner of the ring steps and when he went to finish him off, Samoa Joe, from commentary, calmly stated, “It’s out.”
The referee called for the bell and help came from the back. Rollins vomited to sell it.
