Backstage News On “Anything Can Happen” At WWE Live Events

The idea for Randy Orton to do an injury angle against AJ Styles at last Sunday’s WWE live event in Hershey, PA was from Paul Heyman.

The thinking was with live event attendance down, one of the ways to draw fans back to non-televised events is to show them that anything can happen at them. The same situation can be said for changing the United States Championship on 12/26 at MSG.

This isn’t something new or progressive, as it’s something that gets floated all of the time and Vince McMahon will randomly decide to approve from time-to-time. The holiday live events are also treated as more important than just random live events during the year, so that could also be part of the reason for factors contributing to TV happening at them.
