Two semi-finals in the Intercontinental Championship tournament have been announced for next week’s SmackDown:
- Daniel Bryan vs. Jeff Hardy
- Elias vs. AJ Styles

This comes after Styles beat Shinsuke Nakamura and Hardy beat Sheamus on this week’s show to advance. Bryan previously beat Drew Gulak, while Elias beat King Corbin to advance.
It’s likely the new Intercontinental Champion will be crowned at Backlash, but that has yet to be confirmed.
