Is Retribution Still Doomed?, Lashley’s Finisher, Title Change At WWE HIAC, Mike Tyson In AEW

Can Mustafa Ali save Retribution?

There were a lot of rumors and discussions surrounding a possible leader for Retribution. Should it be an up and coming superstar or a talent that is already established? As I wrote yesterday, some wanted Roman Reigns as the leader. Most assumed T-Bar to be the leader. Inserting Mustafa Ali in as the leader of Retribution makes a lot of sense when you consider his character arc of being held down. Part of me wants to say it is an excellent move and hopefully Ali’s true talent can shine through. The other part of me wonders if too much damage has already been done to the faction. Another concern is with no established stars aligned with the faction (at least not yet), there is really no staying power should Vince McMahon lose interest. This program with The Hurt Business will continue but what happens after that?

Why does WWE keep changing the name of Bobby Lashley’s Full Nelson finisher?

WWE has pushed Lashley’s finisher as the Full Nelson for quite some time. However, every now and then, they will call it different things. Once it was the Full Lashley and on Raw it was the Hurt Lock. It seems like they are considering alternative names to brand the finisher for Lashley instead of just calling it the Full Nelson.

Both the WWE and Universal title matches are set for Hell in a Cell later this month. Any chance one of the titles changes hands? Surely there has to be a pay-off for Orton?

Creative is in the early stages for writing the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view. I cannot confirm whether or not winners for the respective title matches have been discussed. I do not see Roman Reigns dropping the WWE Universal Championship for a myriad of reasons, including the fact WWE wants to continue to push him as a strong heel on SmackDown. I felt like Randy Orton should have won the title over Drew McIntyre at Clash of Champions but with them extended the program for another month, one has to think Orton walks out champion. He cannot continue to challenge McIntyre and walk away empty handed, no matter how much WWE tries to protect him. I found it interesting Orton pinned McIntyre on this week’s episode of Raw. This was the first time McIntyre was pinned as WWE Champion and the first time he was pinned on television in nearly one year.

Now that we know Chris Jericho was supposed to face Mike Tyson at All Out, do you think it would have been a draw?

Chris Jericho vs. Mike Tyson would have been a fun match for All Out. To be honest I was bummed about Jericho vs. Orange Cassidy in the Mimosa Mayhem Match. They made it work and it was fun but I would have rather seen Tyson return to the ring. Some fans hate it when boxers and celebrities are involved in pro wrestling angles but they do have a purpose. When the objective of a company is to attract a mainstream audience, you have to think outside of the box to get mainstream attention. Tyson could not commit to a match because of his boxing return against Roy Jones Jr, which has been postponed until November.
