John Cena’s Status, Major WWE Star Working Without Contract, Second AEW Series, McIntyre’s Rise To Prominence

What’s the latest on AEW doing a second show on TNT?

There continues to be talks between AEW and TNT about doing another one-hour program. That is about all that is known at this time as it is something that is being discussed. TNT has been happy with how Dynamite has performed in the ratings and are willing to expand their agreement with All Elite Wrestling. One thing I always caution though is too much too quick. Eric Bischoff put a lot of WCW’s problems on trying to do Thunder with Nitro. A common problem we have today in the business is there is simply too much content. It has not slowed down over the years but I do believe viewer fatigue has been a significant issue.

Is John Cena’s WWE contract really up?

John Cena remains under WWE contract. He is part-time and is busy in his career in television and film. When this stuff starts hitting social media, people will immediately start asking about AEW. There is no need to even speculate as Cena is locked into a WWE contract.

Why do you think it took so long for Drew McIntyre to reach his full potential in WWE?

Vince McMahon has always like Drew McIntyre but there were issues with his look and some personal issues he had to overcome. Now, Vince is very high up on him as WWE Champion. There is a good chance he will headline SummerSlam against Randy Orton.

Is Rey Mysterio really working for WWE without a contract? How could Vince allow him on TV?

It is not completely uncommon for a worker to appear on television without a contract, however, it is usually a lower end talent working a per shot. Rey Mysterio is an exception as he and WWE are trying to iron out a new deal while also leaving him on TV. Vince McMahon knows Mysterio is very important to their audience, especially in terms of the Latino demographic. He has tried for years to groom another star to help with this demo but none have come close to Mysterio. At this point it’s just a risk Vince is willing to take as contingency plans are being put in place in case they do not come to terms on a new contract.
