The Undertaker had his final farewell last night, which was 30 years from his debut. Does anyone truly believe it’s the last we see of The Undertaker?
I have addressed this a couple of times. Originally, I said I felt like Undertaker would hold out for another match. Now, I truly believe he is as retired as one gets in this business. Obviously we never say never as some of the most extravagant retirements in the history of the business turned out to only be temporary (Ric Flair and Shawn Michaels just to name two). The one thing I could see Undertaker saying is he wants to go out in front of live fans, something he didn’t have the chance to do at WrestleMania 37 or Survivor Series. It would have to be something he was interested in doing and the right situation. Nonetheless things are at the point where Undertaker only risks coming back to look like a shell of himself. He had a phenomenal match at WrestleMania (no pun intended) and the send-off last night was appropriate given the date. The one regret I have as an Undertaker fan is it was not in front of fans.
Do you believe NWA has the necessary resources to comeback fully operational in 2021?
If Billy Corgan has a desire to bring the NWA back, it will be back. This has been a very difficult year for the business in general. The hope is a COVID-19 vaccine will be out soon, people will actually get vaccinated and the nightmare will be over. That is going to be quite the process but essential in getting back to normal. I can tell you many workers are skeptical it will be back, while Corgan has remained steadfast it is not over.
What were thoughts on their entire Survivor Series show from start to finish?
Survivor Series was a great show as a $9.99/month WWE Network broadcast. It would have never worked in the traditional pay-per-view era and was hardly a “major pay-per-view.” Obviously, like all the other shows since March, live fans were sorely missed. The action was outstanding, especially Sasha Banks vs. Asuka and Roman Reigns vs. Drew McIntyre. My problem is the concept is silly and “brand supremacy bragging rights” only go so far, especially so close to the 2020 WWE Draft. Why couldn’t they do at least one title match? The Undertaker’s retirement segment was fun because of the date and the ThunderDome looked awesome but it is really difficult to pull something like that off without fans. Survivor Series was flawed from the start because of the concept. It was satisfying as part of the WWE Network but there is no way they would have been able to sell the show on traditional pay-per-view.
Is Jon Moxley expected to defend his IWGP US title at Wrestle Kingdom?
A deal will have to be worked out between Jon Moxley and NJPW in order for him to defend the title at Wrestle Kingdome next year. Moxley does not have a contract with the promotion but has stated he would be open to returning if needed.
