Why NXT Puts On Better Shows, Can Carmella Handle The Spotlight?, WWE Upsetting Talent, Lesnar & UFC Rumors

WWE NXT Takeover 31 was a great show. Why can we not see that quality on the main roster?

WWE NXT Takeover 31 was a great show with five matches that all delivered. Some people will say because Vince McMahon is more of a bystander and Triple H runs things, so the quality is better. I think there are a number of factors to consider when comparing NXT to Raw or SmackDown. NXT is geared towards smart fans or smarks. People like you and me that follow the rumors and appreciate outstanding in-ring work. Raw and SmackDown are more mainstream and geared towards broader audiences, specifically audiences that include children. This does not excuse some of the creative blunders we have seen in recent months, especially on Raw, but it helps explain why things are so different. I do not, however, want to take anything away from NXT. It was a great show last night and I enjoyed it.

What do you make of Carmella’s comments about toxic place social media can be following her return on social media?

Social media can be brutal. It is not the majority, it is the loud minority. I enjoy Facebook and Twitter for connecting with friends and family, sharing sports highlights and following news feeds of my favorite sites and news sources. The problem is it can be toxic and it would be extremely difficult to be in the public eye and have to deal with the negativity. As we saw with Sonya Deville, it can also be disturbing and dangerous. One good rule to live by is if you would not say it to the person’s face, you should not Tweet it at them.

Can WWE legally take over a Superstar’s Twitch account, garnish their revenue and count it against their downside guarantee?

WWE thinks they can takeover these accounts and it looks like they are going to try. I see both sides of the issue. WWE built the talent up and gave them a platform in order for them to make money with third parties such as Twitch and Cameo. However, it is the talent putting in the work to build up a following and entertain their fans. WWE could fix all of this by making talent employees instead of independent contractors. It is a bogus classification that should have been changed years ago. Unfortunately, the only way to get out of it is to not sign an independent contractor agreement. Many workers do not see this as an option as they want the opportunity to work for WWE. I can tell you several WWE Superstars are very upset about this so we will see if their is a better compromise.

Is there any chance Brock Lesnar returns to UFC?

UFC President Dana White recently told Sports Illustrated he does not think Brock Lesnar will return to the octagon. He is financially set and has not re-entered the USADA testing pool. Obviously guys like Jon Jones are going to tease fights with him because it would be a huge pay day. I will maintain Lesnar’s best option is to work out an agreement to return to WWE. However, we never say never.
