Update: FITE is denying the following report with this tweet:
Hello! These rumors are not true. We are not in merger and acquisitions discussions with WWE. We constantly appreciate all of your support and passionate comments.
— TrillerTV (@FiteTV) August 9, 2019
WWE is interested in acquiring the FITE TV streaming platform, according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. While nothing is official, there are meetings scheduled to discuss a possible acquisition.
FITE is a streaming partner to several professional wrestling, MMA, boxing and kickboxing promotions, including All Elite Wrestling. Obviously if WWE acquired FITE, it would be the end of their relationship with AEW. FITE is also a notable home to Impact Wrestling, NJPW, ROH, MLW, GCW, WLW, Championship Wrestling From Hollywood and the Reality of Wrestling.
It’s important to remember just because WWE is interested in acquiring the service doesn’t mean they will. WWE often holds meetings such as this and nothing ever materializes from them.
