WWE NXT Results – 7/29/2020
From Full Sail University in Winter Park, FL
The show opens with a video package looking at Karrion Kross viciously beating Keith Lee’s friend/rival Dominik Dijakovick last week. We’ll hear from the NXT Champion later tonight.
Io Shirai & Tegan Nox def. Dakota Kai & Candice LeRae via pinfall after Shirai landed a Spanish Fly on LeRae. Kai attacked Shirai during her entrance, leading to a melee between the four before the bell. Kai showed selfishness by tagging LeRae in at the end and getting away from the action.
Tom Phillips sends things over to a recap of Adam Cole’s blow-up on The Pat McAfee Show. Triple H and McAfee agreed to have McAfee appear to discuss things with Cole.
Johnny Gargano def. Roderick Strong via pinfall with the One Final Beat DDT. The action was fast-paced and technically-sound as one could imagine.
Backstage, Dakota Kai says she’s not a team-player anymore and doesn’t care about Candice LeRae. She’s tired of having to compete in contender’s matches. She wants Io Shirai. Rhea Ripley interrupts, sporting new blonde hair. Ripley tells Kai to go talk to Regal about who’s next in line for a title shot.
Who should get @shirai_io next: @DakotaKai_WWE or @RheaRipley_WWE?

Timothy Thatcher is interviewed about facing Finn Balor and Dexter Lumis tonight. Lumis lurked behind in the shadows.
Elsewhere, Kyle O’Reilly is mad at the rest of Undisputed Era and how their success has been lately. He pushes them around to fire them up.
Mercedes Martinez def. Shotzi Blackheart via pinfall. Robert Stone & Aliyah were at ringside. This was a very competitive match with Mercedes finally able to truly showcase her skills for the first time since signing with NXT.
NXT UK star Ridge Holland debuts next week, and he has his sights set on the vacant North American Championship.
NXT Champion Keith Lee comes out to the ring to address Karrion Kross. He says Dijakovic is a grown man and will be just fine. Clearly Kross wants Lee’s attention and the title, but he’s done too much “extra bullsh*t.” Lee calls Kross out, but Cameron Grimes interrupts. Grimes says he wants the title and then Lee wipes him out. Scarlett then appears on the stage with dimmed lights before Kross appears on the tron. Kross tells Lee to give him a title match or “everyone will suffer.” Tick tock. Lee tells Kross to name the time and place. This is a money feud for TakeOver.
"Kross, you have clearly made it a point that you ???????????????? my attention, that you ???????????????? my championship and you've done such extra BULL****!" #NXTChampion @RealKeithLee is PISSED. #WWENXT pic.twitter.com/QinBFDoKDd

Imperium def. Ever-Rise via pinfall. Marcel Barthel & Fabian Aichner successfully returned to action after over a month off of TV. This was a quick, hard-hitting affair. Post-match, all four members of Undisputed Era attacked Imperium. Adam Cole yells out that they are the ones who run NXT, and not anyone else.
A special look at Bronson Reed’s life and career airs.
Finn Balor warms up backstage while Dexter Lumis watches from behind.
William Regal says he will not be bullied into make championship opportunities in regards to Keith Lee and Karrion Kross. Kross will have to earn his opportunity.
Isaiah “Swerve” Scott def. Jake Atlas via pinfall with the JML Driver. In a pre-taped promo, Atlas said he is now “medically cleared” and ready to be back in action. Swerve is clearly being prepped for a title match against Santos Escobar.
TakeOver Qualifying Match: Dexter Lumis def. Timothy Thatcher & Finn Balor. The finish saw Thatcher pass out to Dexter’s choke hold. Thatcher did a number on Balor’s knee throughout to keep him grounded. Lumis joins Bronson Reed in the North American Title Ladder Match at TakeOver as three spots remain.
