AEW Dynamite Results – 8/27/2020

Chris Jericho joins commentary as the tag team gauntlet match is about to get underway. We see shots of fans in the crowd. Tony Khan tweeted that there’s about 500 socially-distanced paid fans in attendance.

#1 Contender’s Tag Team Gauntlet: The Young Bucks def. Natural Nightmares via pinfall with Marshall going under.

#1 Contender’s Tag Team Gauntlet: Best Friends def. The Young Bucks with an assist from Adam Page.

#1 Contender’s Tag Team Gauntlet: FTR def. Best Friends via submission to become the new number one contender’s. FTR will now challenge AEW Tag Team Champions Kenny Omega & Hangman Page at All Out.

Darby Allin and Lance Archer are confirmed to compete in the All Out Casino Battle Royale to determine the next World Title contender.

Lance Archer def. Sean Maluta via pinfall. Post-match, Jake Roberts cuts a promo before being interrupted by Taz, Brian Cage, and Ricky Starks to confirm Taz’s boys will also compete in the battle royale. Allin comes out to brawl with Starks.

A video package on Thunder Rosa airs featuring NWA footage and sound bytes from Billy Corgan. It ends with footage of Rosa and Shida signing a contract for a title match at All Out.

MJF comes to the ring for the contract signing with a neck brace and walker. Jon Moxley comes out with their All Out contract in hand. MJF explains how he’s going to beat Moxley and even takes a shot at his “hot wife.” Moxley says nothing he signs matters because on September 5th, MJF is a dead man. MJF’s party celebrates when he signs the contract until Mox says he added a page. Mox says there will be a tune-up match next week with Mox vs. MJF’s lawyer.

Lucha Bros, The Butcher & The Blade def. Joey Janela, Sonny Kiss, Brian Pillman Jr. & Griff Garrison via pinfall. Eddie Kingston says that he and the four winners will be in the Casino Battle Royale.

The Dark Order (sans Brodie Lee) cut a promo on Cody with a casket in front of them. They open the casket to reveal one of their members mocking Cody. Brodie Lee ends up coming out. They all head to the ring as Schiavone talks to Lee about his big title win. Dark Order chants “Cody sucks.” Brodie says Cody will never, ever get the title back. The Natural Nightmares come out and get beat down. Scorpio Sky follows, but meets a slap from Anna Jay and a lariat from Brodie. Brodie and Anna leave before Matt Cardona hits Evil Uno with a Rough Ryder. Cardona stands tall with Sky, QT, and Dustin.

Dasha finds Hangman Page in the bar to ask why he screwed over The Young Bucks. Matt and Nick walk up and inform Page that he’s no longer part of The Elite.

Handicap Match: Big Swole def. Rebel & Penelope Ford via pinfall. Britt stays in her wheelchair. The finish saw Ford inadvertently nail Rebel with Britt’s crutch leading to Swole scoring the win.

Dark Order offers Tay Conti a spot in the group. She takes the paperwork and hugs Anna Jay to make it official.

Tables Match: Sammy Guevara def. Matt Hardy by suplexing Hardy from the turnbuckle through a table. After, Orange Cassidy attacks Jericho at commentary. They brawl all over the stage with referees trying to pull them apart.

  • Santana & Ortiz vs. Best Friends
  • Private Party & SCU vs. Jurassic Express & Young Bucks – winning team faces each other at All Out
