Cain Velasquez will challenge Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship at WWE Crown Jewel later this month.
There had been some confusion as to whether or not the title would be on the line.
As previously reported here at WrestlePages.com, Velasquez has signed a new lucrative, multiyear deal with WWE and has notified the UFC of his retirement.
Velasquez made his surprise debut with WWE on last week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown, where he ran out with Rey Mysterio to confront Brock Lesnar. He debuted in professional wrestling with AAA earlier this year and had also been in negotiations with AEW.
Cain is expected to feature a fighter type style in WWE, as opposed to the high-flying work he did under a mask with AAA.
WWE Crown Jewel 2019 will take place Thursday, Oct. 31, 2019 from the King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The event will air live on the WWE Network at 1pm ET, with the Kickoff pre-show starting at 12pm ET.
Below is the updated lineup:
* Tyson Fury vs. Braun Strowman
* Brock Lesnar vs. Cain Velasquez for the WWE Championship
* Team Hogan (WWE Universal Champion Seth Rollins, Rusev and 3 others) vs. Team Flair (Randy Orton, King Baron Corbin and 3 others)
