Pro Wrestling Sheet is reporting that former WWE star Wade Barrett is returning for one night only to help call NXT on Wednesday. Per the report, Barrett has not signed a deal with the company.
Barrett, a former Intercontinental and Tag Team Champion, left WWE in 2016 once his contract ended. Since his departure, he’s focused on his acting career and more recently worked commentary for the National Wrestling Alliance.
Though it’s not confirmed, one could assume Mauro Ranallo will miss Wednesday’s show again following his unexplained absence at TakeOver XXX. Barrett will likely call NXT alongside Vic Jospeh and Beth Phoenix.
