WWE Reportedly Had No Plans For Roman Reigns Being Universal Champion For Long

Roman Reigns made his surprise return at WWE SummerSlam and eventually went on to become a heel, much to the delight of fans. He then won WWE Universal Championship at Payback the week after SummerSlam.

He is now the “tribal chief” on Friday Night Smackdown and a dominant champion. However, it seems WWE did not originally plan on having him be the champion for a long time.

The Miz now has the Money in the Bank briefcase and it seems he is not going to go after Roman Reigns. On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said that as indicated by initial plans, Roman was not going to have a long run as the Universal Champion.

He has no idea who else would have been the champion as the company has devalued everyone else.

Roman Reigns will be competing against WWE Champion Drew McIntyre at WWE Survivor Series this Sunday.
