WWE To Face Challenges From Biden Admin?, Cutting Down Touring, More On Major Raw Segment Cut

With Joe Biden winning the United States presidential election, what are the chances Andrew Yang is confirmed in his Cabinet and comes after WWE for their classification of wrestlers?

Vince McMahon was very much rooting for Donald Trump to win the presidential election. In addition to Trump being a personal friend, Vince knows Yang has put his name in the hat for Secretary of Labor and has already set his crosshairs on how WWE classifies talent (see the video above). In fact, several workers reached out to Yang after WWE took their Cameo accounts. A Biden administration will be more difficult for Vince but he has been able to defend the classification for decades. It is possible a change can be made but I would not consider it likely.

What do you think of WWE scaling back live events once the pandemic ends?

I will believe it when I see it. Vince McMahon has resisted cutting down the touring schedule despite very loud calls to do so. It is absolutely warranted. Being on the road 300 days a year is not good for anyone, there are more injuries and it grinds talent into the ground. I hope we will see a different company once the pandemic ends but I remain skeptical.

What was the ultimate reason for Raw Underground getting cut?

Raw Underground ran its course and was never intended to be long-term. It was pitched as a way to prevent the show from losing audience in the third and final hour of the show and provide viewers with something different without a live crowd in the building. There is no way the segments would have worked with a live audience. The segment was originally cut because it required a lot of extras, which posed a COVID risk, and eventually phased out completely. WWE almost made a star out of Dabba-Kato with it but that does not appear to be the plan now.
