Cain Velasquez has not officially signed a contract with WWE, according to Marc Raimondi. The two sides are getting close.
Velasquez’s appearance on tonight’s episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown came together over the last 24 hours or so. The UFC was aware of the appearance and approved it before he appeared live on FOX.
Ariel Helwani adds Velasquez still has fights left on his UFC deal, something we have already pointed out. Velasquez isn’t a factor now for the fighting promotion so Helwani believes letting him go makes a lot of sense, especially given the anti-trust lawsuit.
