Cain Velasquez Signs Lucrative, Multiyear Deal With WWE, Retires From UFC

Cain Velasquez has signed a new lucrative, multiyear deal with WWE and has notified the UFC of his retirement, reports Marc Raimondi.

Velasquez, 37, has been removed from the UFC’s USADA drug-testing pool and the UFC heavyweight rankings.

WWE has scheduled a news conference from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NV, the site of tonight’s SmackDown, to officially announce the news. Boxer Tyson Fury will also be at the news conference.

Velasquez made his surprise debut with WWE on last week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown, where he ran out with Rey Mysterio to confront Brock Lesnar. He debuted in professional wrestling with AAA earlier this year and had also been in negotiations with AEW.

Cain is expected to feature a fighter type style in WWE, as opposed to the high-flying work he did under a mask with AAA.
