Finn Balor defended the NXT Championship against Kyle O’Reilly at NXT TakeOver 31. He was able to retain his title. However, he suffered an injury during the match.
He suffered a jaw injury. Generally, an injury of that nature takes six to eight weeks to recover from, but it seems his injury might not be as severe as expected.
On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that Finn Balor’s jaw is legitimately broken in two places and it is not inaccurate news. However, the belief is that it is not as bad as it seems.
Their claim was that when the swelling reduces, they will get to know the true severity of the injury. It was said that if the company was aware Balor would be out for a long time, he would have to relinquish the title like the previous champion Killer Kross had to.
