More On Drew McIntyre Being Out Of Action, Slated For Major Singles Push

Drew McIntyre, who is currently sidelined after undergoing surgery to repair a lingering injury that came up after his recent promotional tour of Mexico, has been dealing with an illness that he tried to work through.

Per The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, McIntyre kept to himself and continued to work despite being ill. His last match was on the Aug. 26th episode of RAW, where he went under to Ricochet in a King of the Ring bout. He was so sick that day he could barely get of bed and thought he had the flu, so he worked through it.

WWE officials had McIntyre see a doctor when he returned from Mexico last week and that’s when he was diagnosed and sent him for surgery just three hours later. The surgery was minor and not bone or muscle related.

McIntyre could be in for a big singles push leading into WrestleMania 36. He wants to return but is waiting to be cleared from WWE and their medical team. While no return date is set, he could be ready as soon as next week’s television.
