Samoa Joe has not competed inside a WWE ring in quite a while. This is because he has suffered injuries in quick succession. He suffered a concussion last time and was pulled from any in-ring work. Since then he has been a part of the commentary team.
Joe spoke to the Wilde On podcast, where he discussed his current status in WWE. While he is certainly enjoying his time on commentary, he is not finished being an active in-ring competitor.
“Right now I’m enjoying commentary on Raw. It’s been a fun challenge. Obviously, I’m not done in the ring by no means. I think right now I’m exploring things. Aside from that, I’m doing voice acting which is fun and very cool. It’s a very enjoyable thing. I have a project coming up with Warner Brothers. I’m very fortunate and I’m very happy that I’m doing the things I’m doing right now.”
WWE does not treat concussions lightly and it is likely Joe will not be cleared for an in-ring return for a long time. Till then, fans will get to see his work as a commentator on the main roster.
