What are the current plans for WWE Survivor Series?
WWE Survivor Series is scheduled to emanate from the ThunderDome at Amway Center in Orlando, FL on November 22, 2020. There is a good chance Roman Reigns goes in as WWE Universal Champion and he should defend at the show. Could WWE use up a Goldberg appearance as his opponent? I predict a traditional Survivor Series match, with Retribution facing a team of WWE Superstars. Other than that, plans are very much in flux. Sasha Banks vs. Bayley should continue and it would be hard to see Banks winning the title at Hell in a Cell next week. Randy Orton vs. Drew McIntyre is scheduled to conclude at Hell in a Cell, so McIntyre will either have a new challenger or Orton will look to defend the WWE Championship.
What is Sting’s WWE status?
Sting is no longer under WWE contract. He is not cleared to wrestle and is likely finished as an in-ring performer. He will turn 62-years-old next March and has not competed since suffering a severe neck injury against Seth Rollins at Night of Champions in 2015. Some fans still want to see Sting face The Undertaker but Undertaker is on record lately as to saying it’s the one match fans will always talk about.
Is ROH turning a corner with the success of the Pure Tournament and their bubble system?
Ring of Honor has had a successful return from COVID-19 and continue to remain as a prominent independent alternative to the other promotions. As far as turning the corner, they are what they are. ROH will never be a mainstream promotion. They are not built for that. They are a promotion with significant financial backing in Sinclair Broadcast Group, which guarantees them TV.
One question that has always fascinated me is, when they do a ring break segment, like when the ring collapses or go through the ring, how long in advance do they have to prepare for that and how do the mechanics work in such a spot?
When a promotion such as WWE plans for a ring break segment, the plans are made beforehand and the ring is rigged the day of the show. The ring breaks have to take place towards the end of the show for obvious reasons. The final preparations are made in the moments prior to the segment, usually by sneaking someone out to rig it from underneath.
