WWE To Begin Granting Releases Again?

WWE could end up granting Sin Cara his release as requested.

As previously reported, Sin Cara went public with a statement on Twitter to inform fans he had requested his release from the company. Word going around was that his request would be denied but they he would be removed from television. Cara has approximately three years left on his WWE contract.

WWE hasn’t been keen on releasing talent who ask because they want to keep them away from signing with AEW or somewhere else that could hurt them. It’s the reason why Luke Harper and Mike Kanellis remain on the roster, despite requesting to leave.

The company began doing this after granting releases to Shawn Spears, Dustin Rhodes and Hideo Itami. Spears and Rhodes went to AEW, while Itami returned to New Japan Pro Wrestling.

WWE’s stance could be evolving again with the company being more willing to grant releases to talent they believe either won’t sign with AEW or if they did, would have minimal impact.

Cara recently returned from reconstructive knee surgery and had a program with Carolina against Andrade and Zelina Vega. Officially, he’s still on the Raw roster.
